Expert Root Canal Treatments in Cedar Rapids, IA

If you have a damaged or infected tooth that's causing you pain or discomfort, DentalCare Associates PC is here to help. We specialize in root canal services that'll help relieve pain and protect your natural tooth.

People stereotypically associate root canals with pain, but this tooth-saving procedure actually provides you with relief because it removes the infection that's causing pain. At DentalCare Associates PC, we always make your comfort a priority. To help you relax during a root canal procedure, our experienced staff will offer gentle nitrous oxide (laughing gas) sedation at no additional charge.

When you're in our office, if there’s anything else we can do to improve your experience, please don’t hesitate to let us know. If you have a toothache and think you might need a root canal, call us today. We offer emergency appointments for existing patients, and we work with insurance.

About the Root Canal Procedure

A root canal infection develops when bacteria enter the innermost part of your tooth, the dental pulp. This usually occurs because of a deep cavity, gum disease, or trauma to the tooth. As with any infection, a tooth infection needs to be treated and eliminated as soon as possible.

To get rid of the painful infection, we'll recommend a root canal procedure. If we don’t remove the infection with a root canal, the pain will worsen, eventually leading us to extract the tooth. Having a root canal won’t just relieve your pain, but it will also save your tooth.

The procedure begins with our dentist numbing your mouth with a local anesthetic to ensure you don't feel any pain. Next, we'll open a small hole in your tooth to access the infected root canal. We'll gently and thoroughly clear away the infection, disinfect the tooth, and fill the hollowed-out inside of your tooth. This may require several visits.

If you have a toothache, don't let the pain go untreated. Call DentalCare Associates PC today, so we can decide on the best solution for you.

Signs of an Infected Tooth

Most people recognize a tooth infection when they start to experience an excruciating toothache that worsens over time. Other less obvious symptoms include:

  • A nasty odor in your mouth
  • A pale raised bump on your gums
  • Darkening of the tooth
  • Extreme sensitivity when touched
  • Lingering sensitivity to hot and cold
  • Swollen and tender gums

Call DentalCare Associates PC today to learn more about root canal procedures or to schedule an appointment to see the best solution for your dental needs.
